Types of Funding

Funding Overview

Funding your project can be facilitated through securing a minimum guarantees, tax credits and sales/receivables. We offer an array of options to cover all of your different financial requirements. The scope of what we cover is listed below.

Minimum Guarantees

A cash advance payable to the licensor by the distributor in exchange for the exclusive rights to distribute a film over a set term in a given territory. MGs are usually payable upon

  1. Signature of the distribution agreement and/or

  2. Licensor’s full delivery of the film to the distributor.

Tax Credits

Flix Financial is able to help secure and finance tax credits for your production in order to  write needed gap loans. Out team of experts bring a sophisticated understanding of regulations and the relationships to get the job done right.

Sales/Receivables

Pre-sales on receivables is given when there is a commitment from distributors to purchase the rights to sell your intellectual property in a particular territory for a given  period of time. Filmmakers take those commitments to a bank and use them  as collateral to get loans to make their projects.

Gap Loans

Flix Financial is highly selective in offering gap/mezzanine loans to help finance projects. All funding is looked at on a project by project basis, though we do welcome all submissions.

Bridge Loans

Flix Financial provides bridge loans against the permanent finance plan, whereby the “take out” is an institutional investor such  as a bank, well known financial institution (e.g. hedge fund, private  equity group, family office) which will “hold” the underlying loan through maturity (typically 18 months). To be eligible for a bridge  loan, the financing institution will have had to issue you a fully  executed LOI or term  sheet to finance your project.

Union Funding

Movie unions are organizations of professional film and television  actors, writers, directors, producers, and other film industry workers They negotiate talent contracts, set minimum salaries, and working conditions, and provide health benefits. Movie unions also protect their members’ rights if they get into an  on-set dispute or legal trouble.

Flix Financial can provide a cash flow solution for your Union deposits.
